About The Event
Join us for an intimate but lively Sunday evening in a beautiful home near Downtown Athens. This is a special night with three performances by incredible artists with the common influence of early and gypsy jazz.
Doors open at 6p.m. so guests can mingle and enjoy complimentary hors d'hoevres and specialty cocktails! Later on, short breaks between sets will allow for more socializing.
Music begins at 7p.m. with The Hobohemians performing first. The term “Hobohemian” denotes a unique form of Americanized vagabond-style bohemianism which guides the group’s approach towards popular American and European roots music of the 1910’s, 20’s, and 30’s: a potent mix of proto-jazz, blues, and folk.
Next, vocalist and bassist Andrea DeMarcus and pianist Greg Hankins will perform an eclectic set of songs ranging from golden era Broadway to The Beach Boys and the Beatles, all infused with elements of the jazz tradition as well as their own personalities and influences.
Finally, Ultrafaux, from Balitimore will perform 100% original music inspired by Django Reinhardt, jazz Manouche, be-bop, gypsy folk, swing, funk, blues, and French musette. The band has performed top jazz festivals, concert halls, jazz clubs, intimate house concert venues and Rock clubs all over the world.
Since this special concert is at a home, an actual address will be delivered to emails associated with ticket purchases and rsvp's after 5p.m. on Jan 26, one day before the event.
